With spring upon us, here are some of my thoughts on setting and implementing corporate strategy -
Imperative that those in corporate leadership functions, who's job it is to set corporate strategy, understand that there is more to setting strategy that just pointing a finger in a set direction.
Successful strategy demands:
- Clearly communicated goals and objectives
- A leadership team that is committed to achieving the goals
- Properly allocated resources for the duration
- No deviation in goals and objectives. No side-tours.
- A committed implementation team who has the power to implement
- One driver who can mobilize resources as needed
- Set clear and achievable, yet aggressive goals
- Set timeline and measurable milestones
- Assign clear responsibility
- Have a set of urgency: Commit to strategy, implement, move on to next set of goals and objectives
Failure: moving on to next thing without completing previous.
What are your thoughts?
